The Low Light mode displays all the available visible light and the near infrared light (that you can't see but the scope can see) enabling great low light performance right up to 30 minutes before & after civil twilight. Utilizing the near infrared means more light is available to the scope for brighter imagery in low light scenarios.
After dark, active night vision enables mostly covert surveillance and varmint hunting (where legal). The effective range of the active night vision depends on the power and power density of the IR Flashlight.
A variety of infrared flashlights can be used to enable the active night vision. It is also focusable to a spot for more effective range. With two of these IR Flashlights mounted to your firearm, identification ranges of up to 50 yards or perhaps farther in absolute darkness is achievable. A very effective flashlight mount for most firearms is the AIM Famous Maker Tri-rail Mount Riser.
